A very powerful storm system will impact the plateau Friday and Saturday. This system will bring strong winds, strong storms and heavy rainfall to the area. Following this system, much colder temps will move in Saturday night. I have much more info below and I will issue special updates, as needed, along with my daily morning forecast updates.

Level 2 means that Friday and Saturday will be Meteorologist Mark Weather Alert Days (along with Friday night).

The risk for tornadoes and hail is low. The risk for gusty winds and flooding is much more elevated. Prepare for possible power outages from the winds. Also, prepare for flooding issues, especially Friday night. The good news is that we are very dry, so the water has lots of places to go. Still, heavier downpours could produce localized flooding or flash flooding. Be aware of the typical spots that flood during heavy rainfall, especially at road construction sites.

Right now, it looks like rain chances will stay very elevated all day Friday and Friday night. It’s not until the cold front pushes through Saturday morning that these threats subside.

Don’t forget to download the Meteorologist Mark app from your app store! It’s available for Android and iPhone users. This is a great way to get my notifications as soon as I issue them. The app is free!
