Local 5-Day Forecast for the Plateau

Local matters, especially when it comes to your weather forecast! Bringing you your local weather since 2017!

The winds of change begin blowing today!

Those winds will blow in warm and moist air from the Gulf over the next 24 hours. A vigorous disturbance will move in Friday morning and bring the risk of heavy rain, strong storms, and gusty winds. This disturbance is looking more potent with each model run and that may be good news. If morning rain and storms can stay below severe limits, we may get a break from a severe threat with this system if that rain and storm activity stabilizes our atmosphere for the rest of the day. That is a hopeful scenario!

The severe threat remains low, overall, with this system. HOWEVER, the gusty southerly winds and heavy rainfall could cause problems. That heavy rainfall will likely peak Friday night into Saturday morning. Another low-end strong storm threat may develop Saturday morning with the passage of the actual cold front.

Behind this cold front, Sunday and Monday look colder but quieter.

Active weather on the horizon means some of you all will be fealing it!

Threat Outlook

Notice the change in timing. Due to the increased risk for strong storms and heavy rainfall with Friday morning’s disturbance, the threat for severe weather the rest of Friday may be diminished. Another threat comes Saturday morning with the passage of the cold front. Meanwhile, gusty southerly winds could cause power outages across the plateau from Friday through Saturday.
