Wednesday evening through Thursday morning will be Meteorologist Mark Weather Alert times due to dangerously cold wind chills and light snow. That snow could cause travel issues, so be safe!

Now the short-term models are well within range of Wednesday night and they certainly don’t cancel our snow. In fact, they just reinforce what I’ve said all along….light snow for Wednesday night into the early morning hours of Thursday. Light accumulation is certainly possible, especially for those of you from Mayland to Monterey to Jamestown (western/highest portions of the plateau).

This continues to not look like a major winter weather event (it never has) but a little bit of snow can cause travel issues on this plateau, as we all know. The interstate around Monterey tends to be a problem with these northwest flow events, so be aware of that Wednesday evening and night. Plus, temps will drop with very gusty northerly winds, making for dangerous wind chills Wednesday night and Thursday morning. In fact, wind chills could be dangerously cold for much of Thursday. Be ready to really bundle up if you have to be out!

As always, I’ll keep monitoring this so closely! I will, of course, have your daily update out in the morning, as well.

Rain showers will be with us through much of the day, with a changeover to snow occurring sometime around the 5:00 hour. That will come a bit earlier for those of you west of Crossville and Jamestown.

The radar model below does a good job showing light accumulation of snow for the plateau. This model begins at noon Wednesday and runs to noon Thursday, moving in one-hour increments.

Now, taking a look at the weekend….

Guidance continues to trend away from us getting a winter storm. It just doesn’t look like a Gulf low will develop, which really messes up any chances for a big snow. Still, flurries/snow showers are still looking quite possible for Friday night and Saturday. I’ll continue to watch this closely and let you know if anything changes!

The weather map below does a good job of showing what current thinking is showing for the weekend. Without a Gulf low, there’s just not much of a chance for significant wintry precip.

I’ll update this 5-Day Outlook in the morning for ya!

And changing weather could bring more aches and pains for those who feel those changes!

I’ll have a full update in the morning! You all take care and stay warm!
