Dangerous Travel Conditions Have Developed

Update
There are numerous reports of hazardous roadways across the region. Interstate 40 is being reported as nearly impassable in spots and is even impassable on the “Monterey Mountain” portion of I-40. My brother tried to drive home here in Cumberland County and spun completely around on a road that didn’t even look slick. That black ice is a big problem areawide now.
I have a solid glaze of ice on my car and the trees are even shiny. Freezing drizzle/very light snow will continue overnight, creating even more hazardous driving conditions (but not even ice to threaten power lines or cause tree damage).
PLEASE be advised that your Monday morning commute could be quite challenging. And even if the road looks ok, it may be very, very slick.
These pics are from nieghboring Putnam County.
Even salt trucks can’t navigate.

Those shiny roads!

TDOT Smartway shows traffic snarling on area roads. That link is below. Again, be safe if you have to travel. Otherwise, please stay home and off the roads.

The salt trucks should go backwards so they will have some traction. Maybe a little sand mixed in would help too.
