MM’s Wx Analysis

High pressure continues to lose its grip on the eastern U.S., which is allowing a storm system to overspread parts of that region with showers on this Sunday. None of that activity is expected to be severe or produce flash flooding, with the exception of the east coast of Florida.

A MUCH more potent storm system is gathering strength out west. That system will bring a variety of threats to that region, including severe storms for New Mexico and the panhandle of Texas, along with a large are of flash flood threats across the Four Corners region. Mountain snows are expected in the higher elevations of the Rockies. That system will push eastward as we go through the week, brining active weather and beneficial rainfall to much of the country.

The percentage of the land area of the contiguous U.S. covered in snow remains at 3%, which is the same as yesterday.
