Severe Weather Update (7:55 pm)

At 7:36, the Storm Prediction Center issued a special discussion (red-circled area on map below), expressing their concern with storms moving into Middle TN this evening. This means we are not out of the woods. This is the main line that we’ve been most concerned with all along. Our earlier concerns about possible isolated supercells moving into our area this afternoon didn’t materialize, thank goodness. Storms in Alabama really took center stage and we certainly feel for those folks. One of those Alabama tornadoes was on the ground for 100 miles!

I have been tracking these storms coming into Middle TN for the past couple of hours and they have really intensified. One storm has been a persistent, tornado-warned supercell. I highlighted Cumberland County. Hopefully, these storms will either weaken or pass over rural farmland between us and Nashville. That supercell with the tornado now has a confirmed large and dangerous tornado on the ground. If you know anyone in southern Middle TN you need to make sure they’re paying attention to the weather, especially if they live around Columbia. IF that storm holds together, Murfreesboro may be dealing with this dangerous storm in time. The south side of Nashville is under a new severe t-storm warning now.

I’ll keep tracking these storms. Let’s hope they weaken!
