The atmosphere is becoming unstable as a disturbance moves our way from southwest Missouri. All modes of severe weather continue to look possible later tonight, with straight-line winds being the main threat. More data is coming in over the next hour or so and I’ll have that to report in the 10:00 special update coming.

We remain in the slight risk for severe storms tonight.

Now that the first threat of severe storms has passed, we can time the second threat. I’ve changed the threat timeframe accordingly.

Make sure you have multiple ways to get warnings in the overnight hours, including a weather radio and the Cumberland County EMA app and/or another app, such as the Red Cross Tornado app.
The current radar shows the severe threat to our south that continues to move east. We will now track the severe storms in southwest Missouri as they move eastward.

Another special update is coming at 10:00 pm. Please stay tuned for that.
