The National Weather Service in Nashville has now upgaded the Cumberland Plateau to a high wind warning. This is an upgrade to the wind advisory. High wind warnings are not used very often at all by the NWS. This now means we could have wind gusts to 60 mph. Prepare for power outages and make sure outdoor objects are secure.
Also, make sure your phones are charged in case we get severe weather alerts with tonight’s line of strong/severe storms that will be passing through between 9:00 and 1:00 a.m.

This radar model shows what is likely to happen Tuesday night between 9:00 pm and 1:00 am, with a potent squall line racing across the state, weakening as it enounters the plateau. Still, this line could still have a lot of kick to it as it passes through our region.

As always, I’ll be watching everything closely on Tuesday and all the way until this system has passed Thursday morning. The greatest impacts will likely come from all the wind that we’ll have Tuesday through Wednesday. It’s a “hold onto your hat” kinda forecast and one we ought to expect from the notoriously windiest month of the year.
