Saturday Afternoon Update

The cold front has cleared the plateau and you’ve probably noticed this if you’ve been outside! Winds have switched to the northwest and temps have now fallen into the upper 40s. Overnight lows will bottom out in the upper teens. Winds should calm down a bit as we get closer to Sunday morning.

Keep in mind we have a heightened wildfire danger today, due to gusty winds and very low humidity. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.

We stay cold for Sunday, with highs only in the lower 40s, before rebounding back into the 50s for Monday. Another front will bring the risk for strong storms Tuesday night. Right now, the severe weather risk looks low but not zero. I’ll watch that very closely.

I had a great visit to North Cumberland Elementary School Friday morning! It’s always so good to visit my alma mater and talk to the kiddos about weather. We even talked about our favorite seasons. The kids were amazing, and I can’t wait to be invited back!

The Storm Prediction Center continues to highlight a severe weather outbreak for the lower Mississippi River Valley for Tuesday, in particularly eastern Arkansas to northern Mississippi, as seen below. That activity will impact the plateau Tuesday night, but it is expected to weaken as it makes its way across Middle TN. I’ll monitor our threats very closely.
