Local 5-Day Forecast for the Plateau

Local matters, especially when it comes to your weather forecast! Bringing you your local weather since 2017!

Abundant sunshine returns today!

The sun will shine in the sky, which will help us warm to around 30° this afternoon. Winds will make it feel much colder, but at least the sun is shining (which will help any icy roadways that can get in that sunshine).

A weak front moves through tonight and that may throw a couple of snow flurries around. That front just helps keep our cold air in place. Another front will do the same Wednesday night, with perhaps a few more flurries to throw around in the air.

Then, we enter a cloudier stretch of weather that is a bit more unsettled. A strong arctic front will pass through on Friday and that may bring some more flurries Friday night and Saturday. Right now I’m not seeing any accumulation from those flurries. However, the arctic air with that front may prove to be some of the coldest we’ve seen yet, especially with a stiff north breeze.

That stiff north breeze is due in part to a strong East Coast low pressure system that may develop along the Carolina Coast. We’re usually too far west on the plateau to see anything other than a flurry from this type of system, but the mountains of East TN may have much bigger impacts, just in case anyone is headed that direction this weekend.
