11:30 Update: Extensive cloud cover and cooler temps are really putting a damper on our severe threats today. The Storm Prediction Center has now lowered our threats and removed the marginal risk for our region in their 11:30 update. Therefore, it is no longer an MM weather alert day. We’ll still be on the lookout for storms, but they should stay below severe limits. I’ll still keep an eye on things.

An area of low pressure moving through the Deep South will bring periods of heavy rainfall to eastern Tennessee and Kentucky today. This will also bring rain to us on the plateau. Elsewhere, flash flooding is a serious threat for nearly all of New Mexico and into southern Colorado. A powerful cat 5 Hurricane Polo can be seen off the western coast of Mexico.
